National Homelessness Week: Monday 3 August to Sunday 9 August
Published 9 July 2026

National Homelessness Week is a chance to help people better understand homelessness, challenge misconceptions, share what works to address the issue, and highlight the experiences of local people who have lived through it.
From Monday 3 to Sunday 9 August, City of Port Phillip is offering free activities to help educate the community and encourage open and informed conversations.
We want to inspire everyone to play a part in creating a fairer, more inclusive society, where everyone has access to safe and secure housing.
How you can get involved:
If you are interested in attending an event, please contact Housing Partnerships Officer Tanya Cale to register your attendance: tanya.cale@portphillip.vic.gov.au.
| Activity | Details | Date | Where |
| Homelessness Film Screening and Discussion | Attend a public screening of a feature film exploring experiences of homelessness in Port Phillip, followed by a facilitated discussion and Q&A with a guest who has lived experience of homelessness. | Monday 3 August 5 pm to 7 pm | St Kilda Library Community Room |
| Homeless Memorial | Join us for a community memorial to remember and honour people who have died while experiencing homelessness. This reflective event provides an opportunity to come together, acknowledge lives lost, and recognise the human impact of homelessness. | Wednesday 5 August 10.30 am to 1 pm |
