Community Satisfaction Survey

Each year, Council participates in the annual survey of local residents that is facilitated by Local Government Victoria. Commencing in early March and continuing into April, households may be contacted face to face by independent research agency, Metropolis Research.

About the survey

In March and April 2026, the City of Port Phillip participated in the annual Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey.

To support broader community participation, ensure compliance with audit requirements and preserve the long-term view of trends, Council engaged independent research agencies Klein Research and Metropolis Research to undertake the survey on Council's behalf. Participation was voluntary and confidential.

Similar surveys are conducted across Victorian councils each year, providing insights into community perceptions of council performance, services, facilities, customer service, planning and development, traffic and parking, and other key issues. The results help councils identify strengths, areas for improvement and emerging community priorities.

A total of 900 face-to-face interviews were completed with a representative sample of Port Phillip residents. Individual responses remained confidential and only aggregate results were provided to Council.
